“ We had Nathan from Rico's Taco cater my son's graduation party tonight. Everyone raved about the food. It was excellent and we had lots of leftovers. Nathan and his sister are so pleasant and the boys at the party all loved them. We also had Nathan cater the Vista High School swim team banquet last week and again everyone loved the food there too. They showed up on time. Brought plenty of food and were very pleasant to work with. I will definitely be using them again! I highly recommend them. Takes the stress out of throwing an event. ”
“ The restaurant has a new owner, Pavlos, and is now branded as "Pavlos Tacos". Their new phone number is: (760) 274-6169 Still the great Pavlos running the show. ”
“ This is my FAVORITE restaurant in Encinitas. Not only is the Mexican food the BEST in this area (I've been here 40 years)...but the owner is incredible as a human being. Their staff is efficient, everything is made fresh, and they are friendly. I eat here 1-2 times a week. It is also VERY affordable! DEFINITELY - EAT HERE!!! Love to them, Barbara ”
“ Ok guys, I've had a lot of Mexican food in my days... but this place just hits different I love the hot sauce here, it isn't hot, but adds the perfect amount of flavor to whatever you order! I recommend the Justin's burrito if you're in search for a healthier alternative. Another great option is their California burrito... I love adding rice and lettuce to mine! Lightens up the heaviness. Also their rolls tacos and regular beef taco is a weekly order for us. I wish I took pictures but I eat it so fast I forget. I'll try to upload one later. Go check them out! Best Mexican food in this area!!! ”
“ Rudy's is open and eager to serve the public, so check em' out and take a seat out on their patio and covered seating. It's tucked away in a little shopping strip but serving up good food. I ordered a fish taco, rolled shredded beef tacos with cheese (no guacamole or sour cream) while my husband had the carne asada plate with beans, rice and tortillas. First of all, their rolled tacos were super crispy, cheesy and stuffed with flavorful shredded beef. I opted not to have guacamole or sour cream and used the green salsa instead. The fish taco was two corn tortilla stuffed full of fried fish, lettuce and pico with crema. It was so full that I made two smaller tacos out of it! My husband devoured his gigantic plate of carne asada with the creamy refried beans on the side and rice, which he said was very good. I'd definitely go back and think the quality matches the quantity of food. ”
“ Good ok Rico's!!! Been coming here for so long one of my pictures was on there tables. If you've been coming here for more than 10 years you know what pictures I'm talking about lol. Back then they had a bunch of peoples photos on the tables almost like a year book. But anyways I'm just saying I've been coming here for a while. Which gives me the credibility to give it 5 s Nothing has changed other than the interior furniture is different, no more photo booth thing and thanks to covid no more brownies But, the menu is the same literally i don't think there moved any of the characters at all lol also, the food down to the salsa is same ol same ol. One thing i don't like is the green salsa which it's always been bleh to me. But that red salsa!!! Got dayummm idk what's in it people have told me "pizza" sauce but idc it's delicious. I always get either they're BRC burrito or the beef rolled tacos 10/10 recommend. The Justin burrito is something I've never ordered just because i know for a fact i wouldn't be able to finish it lol. Double wrapped? No way i can even try. But anyways, staff is always nice, they're gracious with the guacamole when you add it on. I'll always keep coming back as long as they're around. ”
“ Rico's deserves 5 stars for their chile rellenos, my favorite Mexican dish. I stopped in for a late lunch yesterday and was blown away when I found a combination plate with vegetarian beans and rice and not only 1, but 2 chile rellenos. Of course I ordered that combo! The meal was excellent, the large chiles were perfectly cleaned and there were no seeds in them. They came stuffed with Cheddar cheese and deep fried with a light batter and topped with a lovely ranchero sauce and the requisite lettuce and tomato garnish. I will come back again and again and probably never order anything different because they were so delicious. I also like to add that Rico's loves vegetarians, I can tell when a restaurant offers vegetarian options only because the demand exists. Rico's puts just as much effort into their veggie meals as the beef, pork and chicken ones. Unfortunately their fish is catfish so I will stick with my all time favorite chiles! ”
“ This is hands down my favorite taco shop. I've been coming here since I was in MIDDLE SCHOOL ... that is like in the 2000s. There are so many things I love about Rico's Taco Shop. First and foremost, it is their crispy justin burrito. It is everything you could ever want in a veggie burrito. No nasty grilled veggies here!! Simply all of the best vegetarian mexican food items: beans, potatoes, sour cream, salsa, rice, cheese, guacamole, lettuce... double wrapped! I get mine "single wrapped" and crispy to cut down a little on the calories (not that this is AT ALL a low cal meal). Then I slather that bad boy in their salsa and TZATZIKI (YES you heard that right, they have tzatziki). When I moved to the East Coast and came home to visit, the love of my life met me at the Airport with a Crispy Justin burrito. When I moved to LA, I took 4 with me to freeze and reheat later (this is honestly a questionable move). To me, the crispy justin IS San Diego. Other things I LOVE about this spot: -Their salsa is so dang good (both green and red) -I have dreams about their spicy carrots (available for free at the SALSA BAR) -There is a salsa bar!! And sometimes, it has brownies... (?!) -The staff are friendly and awesome and have been there forever -The merch (I love my Ricos zip up hoodie and bumper sticker) -They have a photobooth? -The decor is classic... I hope they never renovate. Wish I could go there right now *sigh* ”
“ This place is incredible. I'm super picky about bean and cheese burritos because at most places the beans are always runny and flavorless. Not the case here; they give you a nice thick tasty bean and cheese burrito and it is heavenly. The Justin burrito tasted great as well with crispy fries inside. Great enough to share and make sure to try some of their amazing red hot sauce, it's a mix between marinara and salsa but smooth and thick. Can't wait to return? ”
